Lichfield District Council were proposing the building of up to 750 new houses within the parish of Hammerwich with development taking place off Hospital Road, Norton Lane, Highfields Road and Farewell Lane.

These plans now seem to have been kicked into touch. For more please see here.

However the Council have now earmarked two other sites within the area for new housing expansion as part of their Local Development Framework.

The sites they have in mind are at Highfield Farm, Pool Road and opposite Burntwood Rugby Club on land bordering Church Street and Miners Way.

These proposed developments are badly thought out, will put ever more strain on local roads and infrastrucure and will encroach further into the open spaces that make the Burntwood area such a pleasant place to live.
